NORWALK, Ohio, July 2, 2013—Bob Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Funny Car team are ready to back up their historic performance in Chicago with a strong outing at fan favorite Summit Motorsports Park in northern Ohio.
Tasca became the first Ford driver to break the four-second barrier in Funny Car during Saturday night qualifying at Route 66 Raceway. His 3.988-second pass was one of four three-second efforts that will make the session one talked about years to come.
It was one of Tasca’s greatest moments in a race car and one that reflected how hard the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team is working to win rounds and move up in the NHRA Countdown to the Championship point standings. This weekend’s race will mark the end of four in a row.
“I love these back-to-back races because they give you a chance to really capitalize on the momentum you build up after a race like Chicago,” said Tasca, who advanced to the semifinals with a special JDRF-themed paint scheme on his Shelby Mustang. “Words can’t describe how hard this team is working every day and every night to go out and qualify well and win rounds on race day. I am so proud of my team right now. They’re giving me the best, most consistent car I’ve ever had.”
Fans can continue to donate to JDRF until Aug. 16, 2013 by texting “JDRF” once to 20222 until Aug. 16, 2013. A one-time donation of $10 will be added to your mobile phone bill or deducted from your prepaid balance. The donor must be age 18+ and all donations must be authorized by the account holder (e.g. parents). By texting “YES”, the user agrees to the terms and conditions. All charges are billed by and payable to your mobile service provider. Service is available on most carriers.
Summit Motorsports Park is a favorite destination for fan and drivers, who appreciate the owners’ hands-on approach to making the event memorable.
“It’s just such a fun place to race,” Tasca said. “My kids always get to come with me, so that makes it even better.”
Qualifying from Norwalk will be shown from 6-8 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 6, 2013, with the race on from 7-10 p.m. ET Sunday.

Now headquartered near Charlotte in Concord, N.C., Tasca Racing was founded by legendary Ford dealer Bob Tasca Sr. in Rhode Island in 1962, after he realized the incredible potential of “Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday” during drag racing’s infancy. At 16 years old, Bob Sr. started his first job at a Ford dealership. He opened his own Ford dealership at 27. Seventy years later Tasca Ford still exists, run by the second and third generations of the Tasca family. Bob Tasca III, grandson of Bob Sr., has led the racing branch of the family since 2008 as driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car. When he’s not involved with his race team, Bob III works at the family dealership. The Tasca family is proud to say more than 50 years after Tasca Racing was founded, the phrase “Win on Sunday Sell on Monday” is alive and well within the Tasca and Ford team.
