TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING POST SOLID FIRST ROUND RUN BUT FALL SHORT IN MEMPHIS

Millington, TN – October 5, 2009 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team hoped Monday eliminations would bring them luck after rain washed out all of Sunday’s activities at Memphis Motorsports Park.

After four solid qualifying efforts, Tasca raced his way into the sixth qualifying position. He piloted his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang to a 4.115-second pass at 302.62 miles per hour.

NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing took to the track on Monday morning. The opening pair of Daniel Wilkerson and Ron Capps would greet the day with unexpected results.

“I’m glad Daniel is okay after hitting the wall at more than 200 miles an hour and was uninjured,” said Tasca on young Wilkerson’s first round accident. “Since he walked away from his race car, that speaks volumes to the engineering and additional safety systems that have been added to these cars over the last couple of years.”

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM LOOKING TO TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS IN MEMPHIS

DEARBORN, MI – September 30, 2009 – The Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team, led by driver Bob Tasca III, consider Memphis the turning point in their quest of their first NHRA Countdown to 1 championship title.

Entering the third race of a four-week road trip, the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing ramps up its efforts knowing that every point matters with four races left on the schedule. Tasca is fifth in series standings and 71 points behind leader Robert Hight, approximately two-and-a-half rounds out of the top spot.

“Memphis has positioned itself as a make it or break it race,” said Tasca. “You’ve got six races to win the championship and we’ll be half way through it at Memphis. You need to be in the top three or four coming out of Memphis. It’s a race that I’m looking forward to get to this weekend.”

The team is looking to break out of their second round loss blues in Memphis. Tasca and crew chiefs Chris Cunningham and Marc Denner learn more every week and hope that knowledge will pay results. Known for their preference of hot tracks, the trio knows that Memphis can be challenging, especially entering the fall season.

“The best crew chiefs and the best teams are the ones that can adapt,” said Tasca. “They can learn at the race track what needs to be done to put the team in a position to win. All season Chris, Marc and the guys have given me a Mustang that can win. We’ve won. We’ll win again and for our team and our championship hopes, we need a win or some final rounds in the next four races.”

TASCA OUT IN FIRST ROUND; MAKES 20TH CAREER START

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Sept. 28, 2008) – While making the 20th start of his professional Funny Car career, Bob Tasca III ended the day at Memphis Motorsports Park early as the rookie driver lost to fellow Ford driver, Ashley Force, in the first round of eliminations. While upset about the loss, the driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang and his team were more upset by the fact that their hot rod didn’t perform the way they had expected.

“I think we were just more surprised that our car ran a 4.21 than losing to be honest with you,” said Tasca of his 4.219 run to Force’s 4.128. “We wanted the car to run a 4.14 and we kind of threw the kitchen sink at it because we knew that Ashley would have a great run.”

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE TEAM CLAIM FINAL QUALIFYING SPOT FOR MID-SOUTH NATIONALS

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Sept. 27, 2008) – Bob Tasca III leapt out of the top of his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang following the final run of qualifying at Memphis Motorsports Park as he and his team earned the 16th and final spot for Sunday’s Mid-South Nationals.

“That performance just shows the character of this team when their backs are against the wall,” said Tasca. “When you don’t get in on Friday night, the strategy for Saturday is totally different. I mean you’re one of eight cars racing for four spots and it’s go or go home.”

Tasca was 15th following the first run of the day, but when the time came for the rookie driver’s final qualifying run, Tasca was on the outside looking in after being pushed down to the No. 17 spot.

TASCA 13TH ON FRIDAY; WILL COMPETE SATURDAY FOR SPOT IN MID-SOUTH NATIONALS

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Sept. 26, 2008) – Friday’s qualifying sessions at Memphis Motorsports Park marked the first passes of Bob Tasca III’s career at the site of the 21st annual NHRA Mid-South Nationals.

Despite a solid A to B run during the night session, which saw the rookie driver post a 4.174-second pass to 1,000 feet, the driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang will be one of eight drivers competing for the final four qualifying spots still up for grabs for Sunday’s race.

“Obviously I think we were a little gun-shy after smoking the tires the first time down the track,” said Tasca. “Chris [Cunningham, crew chief] and I talked before that second run and we thought that the car was going to run a 4.15, 16, or 17, but were hoping to be closer to 4.15.”

Tasca’s time was just .007 of a second shy of the top 12 qualifying times that will carry over into Saturday.

TASCA EAGER FOR FIRST VISIT TO MEMPHIS

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Sept. 24, 2008) – The race this weekend at Memphis Motorsports Park will be a first and a last for rookie Bob Tasca III. The driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Funny Car will make his first start in Memphis, which will also be the last track on the NHRA circuit that he hasn’t competed at before.

“We’re excited about this weekend in Memphis and building on the momentum that we got going our way in Dallas,” said Tasca. “It’s the last race on the circuit that I’ve never been to; so as a rookie, this is the last stop that will be a first for me, and hopefully it could be the site of our first win.”

Tasca enters this weekend looking to make his 20th start of the season, and of his young nitro Funny Car career. The rookie driver also enters this weekend on the hunt for his first professional career win.
