Motorcraft/Quick Lane Funny Car Team Prepares to Start Fresh at NHRA Carolina Nationals

DEARBORN, Mich., September 10, 2014 – Bob Tasca III was running side by side with Courtney Force in the first round of the NHRA Nationals in Indianapolis two weeks ago when he ran through oil put down by the car that ran in his lane right before and lost traction. It’s been that kind of season for the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Mustang Funny Car team.

“We were snake bit at Indy when we went through oil in the first round,” Tasca said. “We were on a great run and ran right through Bob Bode’s oil that the safety people didn’t see until after we ran.”

Team Tasca will try to shake off that snake bite and the other rough luck it’s experienced throughout this season when it heads to the 7th Annual NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, N.C., Sept. 12-14.

“We’ve had a difficult season but what happens in the next six races is totally in our control,” said Tasca. “We want to end on a positive note and there’s no better place to start than Charlotte.

“We have six races to go,” he continued. “We just want to finish on a high note, that’s all we can do. We can’t win the championship, but we can go out there and race as hard as we can race. The goal always is to win.”

Tasca said he believes his team can visit the winner’s circle in the remaining half dozen races.

“We got a pretty good baseline in the last couple of races,” he said. “We’ve got a car that’s running more consistent. We’ve had some pretty good runs and weren’t able to finish them for one reason of another.  We’ve just got to put it all together and I think we’ll do that in Charlotte.

“We can play the role of the spoiler and take out some of the big guns come Sunday,” he said.

“I’m excited about Charlotte. Every time I get in that car I think I have a chance to win.”

The action gets underway on Friday, Sept. 12, at 1:30 p.m. EDT at zMAX Dragway. Qualifying can be seen Sept. 12 on ESPN3 at 5:45 p.m. EDT, and on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 3:30-5 a.m. on ESPN2.  Eliminations can be seen live Sept. 14 at noon on ESPN3 and from 8:30-11:30 p.m. EDT on ESPN2.

Tasca Racing

Now headquartered near Charlotte in Concord, N.C., Tasca Racing was founded by Legendary Ford dealer Bob Tasca, Sr., in Rhode Island in 1962, after he realized the incredible potential of “Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday” during drag racing’s infancy. At 16 years old, Bob Sr. started his first job at a Ford dealership. He opened his own Ford dealership at 27. Seventy years later, Tasca Ford still exists, run by the second and third generations of the Tasca family. Bob Tasca III, grandson of Bob Sr., has led the racing branch of the family since 2008 as driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car. When he’s not involved with his race team, Bob III works at the family dealership. The Tasca family is proud to say more than 50 years after Tasca Racing was founded, the phrase “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday” is alive and well within the Tasca team.
