DEARBORN, Mich. Aug. 22, 2013—Bob Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car team are “Wicked Fired Up” – and now they need you.
Only one spot remains in the NHRA Traxxas Nitro Shootout bonus event and Tasca wants it. The Funny Car driver who receives the most fan votes before Tuesday, Aug. 27 will have the best chance to make the event – with a $100,000 purse on the line for the winner.
Vote for Tasca now on NHRA’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/#!/NHRA/app_599788450050788). (Just log into Facebook and “like” the NHRA page to access voting).
Even after you vote, you can check NHRA’s Traxxas Nitro Shootout voting page daily to see how many votes the team has gotten.
Ultimately, the final Funny Car spot in the Traxxas Shootout will be determined by a lottery drawing, with this fan vote determining how many lottery balls each driver receives. So the more votes each driver has, the better chance they have at winning. The drawing will be held in Indianapolis Wed., Aug. 28, 2013.
“We appreciate the support we get from fans of this Motorcraft/Quick Lane team and we know we can depend on them,” said Tasca, who broke the four-second barrier in his Ford Mustang in Chicago with a 3.988-second pass at 316.97 mph in an epic night of NHRA racing. “Time to vote!”
Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing will release a series of special photos on its Facebook and Twitter pages, featuring Tasca and the “Wicked Quick, Wicked Focused and Wicked Fired Up” Motorcraft Funny Car team to mobilize its fanbase.
The Traxxas Nitro Shootout will be held during the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis Aug. 30-Sept. 2, 2013.

Now headquartered near Charlotte in Concord, N.C., Tasca Racing was founded by legendary Ford dealer Bob Tasca Sr. in Rhode Island in 1962, after he realized the incredible potential of “Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday” during drag racing’s infancy. At 16 years old, Bob Sr. started his first job at a Ford dealership. He opened his own Ford dealership at 27. Seventy years later Tasca Ford still exists, run by the second and third generations of the Tasca family. Bob Tasca III, grandson of Bob Sr., has led the racing branch of the family since 2008 as driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car. When he’s not involved with his race team, Bob III works at the family dealership. The Tasca family is proud to say more than 50 years after Tasca Racing was founded, the phrase “Win on Sunday Sell on Monday” is alive and well within the Tasca team.
