This Week Dream Come True for Tasca as NHRA Mello Yello Series Comes To Epping, N.H.; First pitch, Fan Fest in Boston Today

BOSTON, June 19, 2013—The Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car is at Boston’s famed Faneuil Hall and a trip to Fenway Park is on the schedule tonight – which can only mean the week Bob Tasca III has waited for for a year is finally here.

This weekend, the NHRA Mello Yello Series comes to New England Dragway for the Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals. Reserved-seat tickets have long since been sold out and with a strong walk-up crowd expected, NHRA and teams are busy spreading the word about the race throughout New England.

New England Dragway was the first track Tasca raced at. At 16 years old, he took his 1992 Ford Mustang down the Epping, N.H. Dragway. Since then, he’s taken every race car he’s ever owned down that track, except for his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang.

It’ll be a special moment for Tasca.

“I’m so excited the moment is finally here,” Tasca said. “There are so many people in New England who are fans, but have never seen a race because there isn’t one close by – and the way to really experience NHRA is by seeing it. I can’t wait to introduce the people of New England to the sport I love and have dedicated my life to.”

Tasca visited media in Providence, R.I. on his way to Boston, where he is scheduled to attend an NHRA fan fest, press conference and throw out the first pitch at the Red Sox game at Fenway Park with Robert Hight, courtesy of Auto Club of Southern New England.

“I’ve been practicing,” Tasca said. “The guys on my team keep telling me to just not let it bounce.”

Qualifying from the Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals will be on ESPN2 from 8-10 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 22, 2013, with the race at 7-10 p.m. ET on Sunday (June 23).

Tasca Racing
Now headquartered near Charlotte in Concord, N.C., Tasca Racing was founded by legendary Ford dealer Bob Tasca Sr. in Rhode Island in 1962, after he realized the incredible potential of “Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday” during drag racing’s infancy. At 16 years old, Bob Sr. started his first job at a Ford dealership. He opened his own Ford dealership at 27. Seventy years later Tasca Ford still exists, run by the second and third generations of the Tasca family. Bob Tasca III, grandson of Bob Sr., has led the racing branch of the family since 2008 as driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car. When he’s not involved with his race team, Bob III works at the family dealership. The Tasca family is proud to say more than 50 years after Tasca Racing was founded, the phrase “Win on Sunday Sell on Monday” is alive and well within the Tasca and Ford team.
