LAS VEGAS, Oct. 25, 2012–Bob Tasca III will have two things on his mind this weekend at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: One, to go one more round than he did at this track last spring; and two, a special announcement sponsor Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing will make on Tuesday during the AAPEX show at Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.
“Las Vegas has always been good to me,” said Tasca, who made a splash in the NHRA Full Throttle Series playoffs as a spoiler with a win in Dallas. “We always seem to do well here. I’m certainly ready to get back in my Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford after having a weekend off.”
Two races remain on the 2012 NHRA Full Throttle Series schedule and three drivers are still in the hunt for the Funny Car championship title, including Tasca’s fellow Ford driver Mike Neff. Neff is third in points and focused on winning his first title as a driver/crew chief.
“At the end of the day, we still want to put his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford in the winners circle, but we also want to qualify well and maybe put ourselves in position to take out a few Dodges,” Tasca said. “The points went right down to the wire this year and our goal is to do the best we can for our team and for Ford.”
On Tuesday and Wednesday, Tasca will join sponsor teammate Trevor Bayne at the AAPEX show, where the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team will make an announcement about 2013. The show is an annual gathering of Motorcraft distributors and always an important stop for the “world’s fastest Ford dealer.”
“I grew up with the Motorcraft brand, literally,” Tasca said. “I used to wander around the parts department of our family dealership (Tasca Ford in Rhode Island) and ask my dad what the difference between the red boxes (Motorcraft Parts) and blue boxes were.”
