Motorcraft/Quick Lane Funny Car Team Heads to Brainerd Ready for Action

DEARBORN, Mich., August 13, 2014 – After a week off following the conclusion of the NHRA’s mid-summer Western Swing, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car team are rested and ready for action at Brainerd International Speedway in Minnesota, Aug. 15-17.

“It’s a fun place to race and it can be a fast track, depending on the conditions,” said Tasca of the Brainerd drag strip. “We’ve had some success there. We’ve been to the semifinals.”

Two weeks ago in Seattle, Tasca got down the track in three out of four qualifying attempts, recording runs of 4.156 seconds/299.26 mph, 4.280/250.55 and 4.150/301.40 in the final three sessions. He lost in the first elimination round to fellow Ford driver and current NHRA Funny Car points leader Robert Hight, 4.112/305.98 to 4.918/161.23.

It’s no secret that 2014 has been a frustrating year for the Rhode Island Ford dealer. “I want a win so bad I can taste it,” he said. “We went into the season with the goal of winning Ford a couple of trophies and that’s still the plan.”

The action gets underway on Friday, Aug. 15, at 3:30 p.m. local time at Brainerd International Speedway. Qualifying can be seen live Aug. 15 on ESPN3 at 6:30 p.m. EDT and on Aug. 16 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. EDT on ESPN2. Eliminations can be seen live Aug. 17 at noon EDT on ESPN3 and from 9 p.m. to midnight on ESPN2.

Tasca Racing

Now headquartered near Charlotte in Concord, N.C., Tasca Racing was founded by Legendary Ford dealer Bob Tasca, Sr., in Rhode Island in 1962, after he realized the incredible potential of “Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday” during drag racing’s infancy. At 16 years old, Bob Sr. started his first job at a Ford dealership. He opened his own Ford dealership at 27. Seventy years later, Tasca Ford still exists, run by the second and third generations of the Tasca family. Bob Tasca III, grandson of Bob Sr., has led the racing branch of the family since 2008 as driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car. When he’s not involved with his race team, Bob III works at the family dealership. The Tasca family is proud to say more than 50 years after Tasca Racing was founded, the phrase “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday” is alive and well within the Tasca team.
