Maple Grove Raceway has a long history of record performances, including the first side-by-side quarter-mile four-second and 300-mph Top Fuel passes, and the cool October climes continue to offer more of the same. The event is the third in three weeks and marks the midpoint of the Countdown playoffs.
2011 recap: On a record-breaking weekend during which two national e.t. records were set, every category had runs that were among the 10 quickest of all time, and 29 racers left with new personal bests in e.t., speed, or both. Del Worsham lost the Top Fuel final to Spencer Massey despite running the quickest e.t. in NHRA history, a national record 3.735. Jason Line ran the table in Pro Stock, qualifying No. 1, setting a new e.t. record, and winning the race. Joining Massey and Line in the winner’s circle were Robert Hight (Funny Car) and rookie Hector Arana Jr. (Pro Stock Motorcycle).
