FIRST VISIT TO DALLAS FOR TASCA

ENNIS, Texas (Sept. 17, 2008) – Another week on the NHRA circuit and another new track for rookie Bob Tasca III to take on this weekend as the series heads to Dallas and the Texas Motorplex.

“This will be my first time racing in Dallas, and I know that that track is known for some great ETs and great speed,” said Tasca. “It’s also the one-year anniversary of John’s [Force] major crash, so there is a lot of attention on this race.”

After red lighting the past two weekends, the driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang is eager to get back into the car and back to racing. And while it seems that luck has not been on the rookie driver’s side, that hasn’t gotten him down.

“I think it’s just that I’m really amped up to race on Sundays,” said Tasca of the past two events. “I mean it’s amazing to me just how close the red light has been, but I guess that the car and me are reacting quicker than I’m anticipating. We’re going to dial this thing in for Friday night, that’s our strategy, to get up in the pack for Sunday morning.”

Being one of the top 12 drivers that have their qualifying times carry over from Friday to Saturday will be the first goal of the weekend for Tasca. The second, will be to win some rounds as Tasca continues to fight for his first win of the season.

“For us, it’s about improving on Sunday,” said that Rookie-of-the-Year contender. “We’ve really, really struggled on Sunday all year, and the last two races I’ve fouled at the line, but that’s certainly not what I plan on doing on Sunday. What Chris [Cunningham, crew chief] and I want to do is qualify higher in the pack than where we’ve been, and that means running good on Friday night. We’ve missed these Friday night sessions, but we’ve run good on Saturday. And on Sunday, we just need to stick to the basics.

“I’ve been optimistic all season long that we were going to win at least one race, and we’ve got five left to get the job done and Dallas I think is going to be a great weekend to do that.”
